How DekhoDeal scores smartphones
DekhoDeal uses transparent, versioned scoring systems so broad hardware strength and specialist use cases are not mixed into one opaque number. The Overall Tech Specs Score compares general technical capability; the Gaming Score ranks gaming capability with its own evidence rules and qualification gates.

How this score is produced
1. Verify the specification
We start from exact mapped product specifications backed by manufacturer, regulatory, support or other approved evidence. Values are not guessed to fill gaps.
2. Score each metric
Each score-driving metric is evaluated against the active methodology rules using the exact mapped value.
3. Apply the metric weight
The metric scores are multiplied by their configured weights and combined into one 0–100 Tech Specs Score. All configured weights total exactly 100%.

Verified evidence comes before the score
Exact mapped values
The scorer reads the exact specification value already mapped to the product. It does not infer a stronger nearby tag just to increase coverage.
Evidence-required metrics
Score-driving smartphone metrics require verified evidence. A genuinely missing mapping can block publication instead of being silently renormalized away.
“Not specified” is explicit
When the evidence policy confirms that a required specification is not disclosed, the explicit Not specified value can score 0 under v3. We correct that mapping whenever authoritative exact evidence is available.

Questions
Common questions about Overall Tech Specs Score
Does a higher Tech Specs Score always mean the better phone to buy?
No. It means the phone has a stronger result under this technical-specification methodology. Price, software, ergonomics, real-world testing and your own priorities can still make a lower-scoring phone the better purchase for you.
Why can one Tech Specs category be much lower than the overall score?
Each category combines only its own score-driving metrics. A phone can be excellent in performance and connectivity while having weaker storage or charging specifications.
What does “Compared across” on a product card mean?
It shows the current number of eligible smartphones using the same active methodology. That count can increase as DekhoDeal adds and verifies more products.
Can the Tech Specs methodology change?
Yes, but methodology changes are versioned. The current smartphone implementation is v3. A future version can change weights or rules without silently rewriting what v3 means.

How phones enter and move through the ranking
The collection ranking is not just a raw sort. Publication coverage, capability floors, model-family deduplication and a stricter Top 5 gate are applied explicitly.
Main gaming collection baseline
To enter the main ranked Gaming Smartphones collection, the phone must have a current published Gaming Score with at least 76% coverage and clear the metric-score floors: Processor 45, GPU 40, RAM 75, Refresh Rate 85 and Battery 60.
Mid-range ₹20K–₹40K baseline
The Mid-Range Gaming Smartphones collection uses the exact same Gaming Score v1, but applies a price-tier browse floor: Processor 35, GPU 25, RAM 75, Refresh Rate 85 and Battery 60. Price is only an eligibility filter and never adds points to the Gaming Score.
Top 5 uses a stricter gate
Top 5 candidates on both gaming pages must clear Processor 50, GPU 45, RAM 75, Refresh Rate 85 and Battery 60, then either have verified Game FPS of at least 60 or a scored Cooling System plus a genuine gaming signal: Touch at least 80 or Gaming Features at least 70.
One representative per model family
Variants are collapsed into one model-family representative. The highest published Gaming Score wins; coverage, canonical-parent status, current price and product ID are deterministic tie-breakers for choosing the representative.
Final rank order
Model-family representatives are sorted by Gaming Score descending. Exact score ties are resolved by higher coverage, then a stable family identifier. The Top 5 is ranked separately from the broader browse collection.
The calculation
How this score is produced
1. Verify gaming-specific evidence
We use exact mapped specifications and gaming evidence. Display refresh rate is not treated as game FPS, and camera-recording frame rates are excluded completely.
2. Score each gaming signal
Each of the 14 signals is scored under the current v1 rules. GPU performance is independently calibrated; generic GPU family labels are not averaged into a performance guess.
3. Apply weights and evidence coverage
Weighted scores total 100%. Missing optional gaming evidence is excluded and reduces weighted coverage rather than automatically becoming a zero-performance result.

Verified evidence comes before the score
Game FPS must be gameplay evidence
Game FPS is only counted from verified in-game or gameplay performance evidence. A 120Hz, 144Hz or 165Hz display does not prove a game runs at the same frame rate.
76% publication coverage gate
A published Gaming Score needs at least 76% weighted evidence coverage. Because Game FPS plus Cooling account for 26% while all other metrics total 74%, every published score must contain verified Game FPS or verified Cooling System evidence.
Camera FPS never counts
Camera recording modes such as 4K 60fps or 4K 120fps are completely excluded from the Game FPS metric and cannot improve the Gaming Score.
Research gaps are not silently scored as zero
For ranked gaming collections, gaming-specific attributes such as gameplay FPS, cooling, storage, speakers and documented gaming features are researched before publication. A missing optional signal reduces coverage; it is not converted into a zero. A zero is reserved for an explicitly mapped capability that is configured to score zero.

- Long-duration thermal throttling or sustained FPS lab testing for every game.

Common questions about Gaming Score
Does a 120Hz or 165Hz display mean a phone can run games at 120 or 165 FPS?
No. Display refresh rate and actual game frame rate are separate metrics. DekhoDeal only counts Game FPS when gaming or gameplay performance is explicitly verified.
Does camera video FPS affect the Gaming Score?
No. Camera recording frame rates such as 4K 60fps or 4K 120fps are completely excluded from the Game FPS metric.
Why can a powerful smartphone be missing from the ranked gaming collection?
The phone needs a current published Gaming Score with at least 76% weighted evidence coverage and must clear the broader gaming-capability baseline. Missing or insufficient gaming-core evidence can keep a technically strong phone out until the evidence is verified.
How is the Top 5 different from the full gaming ranking?
The full ranked collection uses the broader hardware-capability gate. The Top 5 is stricter: it requires stronger baseline scores plus verified high-FPS gameplay or documented cooling paired with a genuine gaming-specific signal.
Why does the mid-range gaming page use a lower processor and GPU eligibility floor?
The ₹20,000–₹40,000 page compares phones inside a lower price tier, so its browse floor is calibrated to that tier. The Gaming Score itself is unchanged and price never contributes points, which keeps scores comparable with the main Gaming Smartphones page.
